Product Overview
Kokako Sound Bird
The Kokako are among New Zealand's most ancient flying birds and are considered by many to have the most striking song. Their haunting organ like notes are unique.
Once abundant they are now mainly found in the Northern Urewera, Bay of Plenty and the King Country.
The fragmentation of habitat and the increase in predators such as rats, possums and stoats have contributed to their decline. Various breeding programs and predator eradication are attempting to reverse this decline.
The Kokako diet is varied. They eat leaves, fern fronds, flowers, fruit and invertibrates depending on seasonal availability.
Come in store to Adore Collection and listen to the real sound of a Kokako preserved within this soft toy and find out why it is considered to have the most striking tone.
