1916 is the critically acclaimed ninth studio album by British rock legends Motörhead, released on February 26, 1991. Marking a major turning point for the band, it was their first release after frontman Lemmy Kilmister relocated to Los Angeles and their first album on WTG Records following a brutal four-year legal battle with their previous label.
The album successfully silenced critics who claimed Motörhead made the same album over and over again by introducing unprecedented musical diversity. It earned the band their first-ever Grammy Award nomination for Best Metal Performance in 1992
